Whether sipped straight or mixed in a cocktail, tequila is a versatile spirit that has continued to capture the attention of American drinkers, making the United States the largest export market for the popular agave spirit.
Tequila is natively Mexican, and production must occur exclusively south of the border for the spirit to officially carry the name. Unsurprisingly, each of the most expensive worldwide tequilas — the majority of which will set you back over $1,000 — are produced in Jalisco, which has been aptly named the “Magical Town of Tequila.”
