Scottish chef Adam Handling is to add another site to his London restaurant empire, unveiling plans for a restaurant and Champagne bar on the King’s Road that aims to make zero-waste “luxurious”. Deboned chicken feet with caviar The new restaurant, called Ugly Butterfly, is set to open on 13 November. It is collaborative project between Handling, Cadogan, the Quintessentially Foundation and The Felix Project. Londoners spend almost £83,000 on beer in a lifetime, survey finds

A new survey has found that Londoners pay more than double the average amount spent on pints of beer in the pub over a lifetime, equating to £82,731.54, compared to the British average of £38,819. The study, carried out by SIM-only mobile network provider Smarty, also found that Londoners spend an average of £4.49 per pint, and fork out almost £83,000 on beer in the on-trade over a lifetime. The average Brit, according to the survey, went to the pub four times a month, spending an average of £17.53. Londoners, however, shelled out £23.04 on a typical pub trip. Drinks company spends £1m on alcohol-free distilling plant at Robinson’s brewery

A company in Manchester has spent £1 million building a de-alcoholisation kit to improve the quality of its 0% ABV beer and cider. Richard Clark, MD of Drynks Unlimited Drynks Unlimited, which makes 0.05% ABV beers and ciders, has completed a £1 million investment in a cool vacuum distillation (CVD) kit. The group says will help to improve the quality of its alcohol-free brews and make them taste “as good as full-strength beers and ciders.” There are currently only 20 CVD kits in operation around the world.
