Distribs Across the Country Share Best Practices

Dear Client: We’ve talked to a ton of distributors over the past week to get a feel for how they’re adapting in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. You’ll probably be okay, but you can’t make any mistakes.” We are truly in uncharted waters. So with essentially every wholesaler learning on the fly right now, we figured it would...

Heineken is scrapping plastic packaging

Heineken is phasing out plastic rings on millions of multipack cans and replacing them with cardboard. Heineken’s cardboard toppers will hit UK shop shelves in April next year. (photo: Heineken) Heineken has invested £22 million at its UK sites to replace the plastic rings that hold together cans of Foster’s, Heineken and Kronenbourg 1664, from April 2020. These toppers will then be introduced to Heineken’s wider portfolio, including...

Board rigid with AB InBev, Disney and Apple’s director reshuffles

The world’s biggest brewer has finally admitted that Budweiser is a soft drink – tolerable only as a thirst quencher at a baseball stadium on a hot day after the third inning and a particularly spicy hot dog. At least that was my read of AB InBev’s decision this week to replace its chairman, Olivier Goudet. Mr Goudet’s day job is running JAB Holdings, the investment group that has embarked on a blitz of acquisitions in recent years, from Pret A Manger to Peet’s Coffee. The precise trigger for his departure is disputed. The Frenchman says he needs to devote...
